Here's a remake for Souljah Boy's "Kiss Me Thru the Phone" produced by Jim Jonsin.

4 sounds to listen for:
1. The bass synth used throughout the song
2. The whistle-like sound effect used in the beginning
3. The sound effect used for the melody behind the chorus
4. The violins

What I'm learning from hearing this is how the bass synth was used throughout the song, while the violins helped the song keep moving.  The really catchy part that made the song though, was the sound effect used for the chorus (#3 above).

Check out this one for 50 Cent's "Baby By Me".  A lot of times producers who remake beats on FL Studio don't make it sound pretty generic, but whoever did this did a great job.

Entertainment Weekly took on the task of figuring out the top 10 albums of the decade.  This is a list comprising of not only rap albums, but every genre in music.  Interestingly enough, several Hip Hop albums made the list, making it the most dominant genre of the last decade.

Props to Kanye for topping the list, a lot of sample-based producers were inspired by The College Dropout.

The-Dream recently flipped out on Twitter and started "bitching" (the same word he used to describe his rant) about not being nominated for a Grammy.  He has a good point since he did help many of the artists who were nominated for Grammy's by producing and writing their music, yet the songs that he saved for his own album were not nominated.

Here's the text straight from his Twitter, typos and all.

"GRAMMY Isnt it FUNNY THE BEST ALBUM OF 2009 DIDNT GET ANOMINATION for the second year strait.
LOVE VS MONEY GOT NO NOMINATION the last time this happen i had LoveHate out and in the category had written the singles on three of the... Albums ,This time once again ive written on two of the albums ,jamie and B and no Nomination on a whole album of of the shit that got....those albums considered in the first place. I AM BOTHERED KNOWING THAT THIS IS THE PATTERN OF a DYING industry not because of what was.....but what wasnt when i know clearly MY ALBUM BLONG there period......maybe its my label, maybe its just my ass kissing skills arent up.......to par ,whatever i helped change the sound into what the sound is and my peers vote against me on purpose to denie me the opprtnty .........but call first thing to get a Record.
